Giant Robots

Filed under: Uncategorized — Michael @ 10:00 am

Well, we were playing our Thursday night D&D game last week and our entire party got wiped out by undead, so it is time to start a new Thursday game! I will be running this game and I have not run a game before, so I am kind of excited and kind of nervous. I think it is going to be a d20 Future game because it sounded like that is what people want to play and I am keen on doing something that involves space travel, high levels of technology, and Mecha. So we shall see … I need to work on some ideas for the game this week, although I don’t expect we will actually start playing until after Thanksgiving.

Wildlife

Well, it’s November and the deer are out. I made note of both of these things this morning as I was driving to work. The frost covering the ground made me aware of the time of year. The large male deer that almost ran in front of my car made me aware of the deer situation(as reported by the local news, numerous cars and deer have been intersecting lately since both are in great supply right now and share a love of the open road).

I haven’t seen a single badger since I moved to Wisconsin, though, apart from various mascots and the ones online (which do not count). Well, I did see something in the woods once, but I’m not precisely sure what it was.

Not on the Edge of Seventeen

Filed under: Uncategorized — Michael @ 10:34 am

Apart from one summer during college when I stayed with them, I haven’t lived in my parents’ house since I was seventeen. Compared to the ages of most of my friends when they got their own places, I was ridiculously young. I still *feel* ridiculously young sometimes and people see me as kind of small and younger than I am– I think I come across as flighty, emotional, and silly. I guess that is part of who I am, not really a mask to hide the more serious parts of me, but there are those serious, willful parts, too, and they often run the engine. I am not sure everyone understands that.

Civic Duties

Filed under: Uncategorized — Michael @ 2:09 pm

OK, some things went well today and some things did not go so well.

Voting went well– took 40 minutes, I was pre-registered, read a book in line, chose my people, hardly a hitch.

Donating blood could have been better. I was fine until I was nearing the end of my unit and then all of the toe- and finger-wiggling in the world couldn’t keep the lights on. I did not pass out, but I entered the stage where I felt full of electricity and could not properly form words with my mouth.

Eating lunch (not really a civic duty, granted) could have gone better. The fire alarm went off and I had to wander around in the cold without a jacket because I did not wear one this morning.
