Labor Day weekend

Everybody seems to be hanging in there and doing OK so far. The kids went out to have lunch together with their dad. Becky, Matt and I just consumed a pot of tuna mac and the Star Wars movies are playing this afternoon in the living room since Becky has not seen them before.

Funeral arrangements were made yesterday. Margot’s obituary was finalized yesterday morning and sent off to the paper to be published today. The details about the funeral and the obituary itself can be found on Althea and Joe‘s websites.

Joe, Becky, and Matt have been staying with us since Thursday night. It has been comforting to have a full house. We’ve also been receiving support from friends near and far. I appreciate that.

Terry came over yesterday afternoon and smoked a cigar on the back deck while the kids played Scrabble and I made tapioca pudding. We went to dinner, picked up a copy of “Galaxy Quest”, and popped it in the DVD player. Kim dropped by during the movie and watched it with us. More tapioca pudding was made.

The past few days I have had the chance to listen to Kim and Terry talk about Margot and how central she has been to their lives for the past 30+ years.

That’s where we are right now.

(As a side note, four years ago this weekend I started dating a very sweet boy.)
