A few (finally) ripe tomatoes, plus fresh basil from the garden, plus fresh garlic and onion (not from the garden), plus olive oil, salt and pepper, equals a small batch of tomato sauce. Since the guys got back from Jack’s before dinner, we ended up ordering pizza, so I did not have a chance to try my sauce. However, it should make dinner a snap tomorrow night.
It looks like the majority of the garden tomatoes will be ripening later on. We’ve had a few handfuls of cherry tomatoes now, but the bigger tomatoes are taking their time. With my luck, they will all ripen at once and I will need the crockpot to handle the volume of sauce being made. Perhaps there will be more than one crockpot-sized batch.
A tiny 2-cup saucepan was sufficient on this first round.
