Recovering

Filed under: Uncategorized — lisa @ 9:17 pm

It has been quite the week for nasty cold or flu viruses going around our household.  We’ve all had a bit of it.  I’ve been home from work for two days, but I am feeling better tonight and hope to be back to work tomorrow, provided a decent amount of sleep is attained.

Hopefully I will have more to write about this weekend.

Apple Pickin’ Saturday

Filed under: Uncategorized — lisa @ 7:29 pm

Great Saturday!  We slept in this morning and got up slowly, petting cats and just being lazy.

Althea and Bryan brought Andrew over and dropped him off for a while to go car shopping.  We picked a few cherry tomatoes, had snacks, played in the backyard, watched My Neighbor Totoro (Andrew watched the whole movie), and had mac and cheese for lunch.  When Andrew’s Mom and Dad and sister Sylvie (almost 7 months) arrived to pick him up, we all went apple picking!

We filled two huge bags with apples (Macintoshes, Galas, Golden Delicious) and had a great time at the apple orchard/farm a few miles from our house.

This evening so far we have played Powergrid (a new board game) with Alice and Sean.   I have gobbled down a sandwich for dinner.  Michael is going to eat something eventually … I think had a bowl of cereal.  We might play more games this evening.  We might not do our weekend shopping until Sunday.  It’s nice to just have a day of fun with no work sometimes.

EDIT: I added a new Fall 2008 album to my Picasa.

EDIT 2: This weekend we are quietly celebrating 5 years of dating … and approximately 13 months until our wedding.

Not sure about #s 55, 87, and 90.  I’d say probably for the criollo chocolate.  Possibly not #55- I realized once that I had never had a Big Mac and I can’t remember whether I ever rectified that or not.  I am a little ashamed there has been no Lobster Thermidor or Kobe Beef.  Not too sure about the egg dishes, either, but I didn’t eat eggs at all until I was almost 30, so probably not.  No vodka shots, alas.

I think I might be unlikely to try sweetbreads or chitterlings, but I am on the fence about haggis.  I had the chance to try soft shell crab recently, but didn’t because there was a lot of other food on its way.

And I’ve never had clam chowder in a sourdough bowl.

My dad threatened to bring home and cook #75, but he never really did.  Thanks, Dad.
